The Farsighted Observer’s Perspective

It’s Indie Day, no matter your locale, country of origin, or country of residence.

Truly, every day is independence day because you always have free will and complete choice over your thoughts. No situation, government, person, or outside influence has dominion over what you think. Not even the highest power in the Universe.

Once you embody agency of self-determination, you are undefeatable. There’s nothing to do to earn it or qualify. It’s yours for the choosing.

About Heart Diptych

Heart Diptych by Joe Gemignani is the image I’ve chosen to represent the spirit of this day. The image was created with fragments of firework photos taken at a 4th of July firework celebration in Asheville, NC.

True to his creative nature, Joe was not a photographer to simply point his camera at a sunset, sunrise, or firework display and capture a beautiful image. His vision always was to create something bigger, grander, more beautiful.

One year, on a whim, he began swinging his camera as the fireworks went off, just to see what would emerge. After the event, he uploaded his images and went to work.

Heart Diptych is one image that resulted from the abstract body of work he created. The final was created by putting together two fireworks fragments to create something greater than each alone.

I chose this photo for today because it represents how love is created in the heart.

Independence Day 2025 takes on an especially powerful meaning in the United States, echoing the ache that ignited the original day of freedom declaration. But modern context requires adding a new element—LOVE, in large doses.

Today and every day, choose love. Words of love, thoughts of love, actions of love.

That’s your freedom over all freedoms.
