Where you stand changes everything.

For most people, the natural inclination is to move in closer to see better.

For me, it’s the opposite. Things are blurry close up and clear from a distance. Farsighted from childhood, I learned to step back for clear vision.

From where I stand, I see the big picture. When in my distanced position, the pieces of the puzzle all come together, and understanding emerges.

Being farsighted is a physical condition for me, but it’s also a metaphor for how I look at things.

Your eyesight may be 20/20, but you can take the farsighted view too.

Empathic, highly sensitive, and intuitive people tend to stand back, away from others, as if to keep a protective space. You may think of it as a defensive move or a liability, but the natural inclination to create distance is a gift.

Of course, when you’re feeling overwhelmed by the noise and energy of others, it’s hard to think of your sensitivity as a gift. Yet, with the right tools and practices, you can transform that reaction to one of grounded, calm leadership.

I know because that has been my experience. In 2020 when the world was in the pandemic crisis, I lost my beloved husband to cancer. In that heart-shattering experience of personal and global grief, my inborn intuitive gifts expanded exponentially.

I followed the guidance I received to learn the healing practices that enable recovery, growth, and embodied trust of self—and became certified to share what I know with others as a healer and teacher.

The Farsighted Observer is the title I’ve chosen for myself and this publication.

My mission is to be the eyes, heart, and voice championing individual creative growth and expression.
