It's a Marvelous Month for a Moon Dance, Moon Dance
Put on your dancing shoes—and keep them on.
TAROT TUESDAY
Welcome, August and the Full Moon, appearing tonight…and again on August 30. Full moons are opportunities to unload what’s no longer needed, and having two in one month is reason to celebrate with glorious moon dances.
Having you been experiencing a sense that things are shifting lately? Perhaps you’ve noticed currents of change, even on a subtle level. Inexplicably, your keys aren’t where you always leave them. Or your friend who is always available to talk suddenly is ghosting you. Or that opportunity/job you were daydreaming about magically materializes in a way you never anticipated.
Despite the tendency to believe that change is bad or to be avoided, it’s a law of the universe. It’s called evolution, and it’s always for your highest good…even if initially it doesn’t appear so.
So necessary is change to evolution, that August is giving us two perfect windows to bring about what we want by letting go of what we don’t. And the timing couldn’t be better.
Just as full moons are opportunities to release what no longer serves, the new moon is the time to put desired intentions into motion. The August New Moon is conveniently arriving midmonth on the sixteenth. So, this August offers a rare opportunity to let go (today!), introduce or redirect new energy (in two weeks), and wrap things up with another release at the end of the month. (Don’t panic if you are not prepared to do a release dance today. The energy of the full moon is present the day before and after as well.)
I don’t know about you, but I’m jumping on the opportunity to direct the flow of positive energy in my direction. Without realizing it, I’d already begun letting go in the past week.
What I did know/feel was that a heaviness was present around me and in my home, so I cleaned out a closet and put several no-longer-used items up for sale. With sale of some things, packaging of clothes for donation, and prodigious use of sage, I created a sense of spaciousness and clarity for myself.
In retrospect, I understand that the urge to purge was a natural progression of the mystical experience I encountered observing a series of sunrises on Fort Lauderdale Beach last month. More about that in a future post, but I can share that I now have personal experience of how transformation can happen instantly under the right circumstances.
As part of my letting-go process (covering almost all aspects of my life), I realized that some obligations and responsibilities (of my own making) were feeling burdensome and contributing to the heaviness I felt surrounding me. The kind of things that you can’t simply bag up and toss as easily as last year’s leggings. The kind of things that require thought and introspection.
So my first act of spiritual release is taking a break from schedules for the month of August. I may or may not write another newsletter this month. That depends on my Muse not the calendar (which you may have noticed heavily governs my writing; i.e., Tarot Tuesday and TGIF). I’m not penciling in any lunch dates or zoom calls. Nor am I signing up for anything. I am prepared to go with the flow.
As radical a change for me as this is, I see that Something has been paving the way for this occurrence, and how nice of the Universe and the stars to provide two full moons punctuated by a new moon in a single month for me to expand my consciousness.
Lest you think this is all about me, please know that all this grooviness is available to you too. Simply fire up your sensitivity sensors (it is the month of Leo, after all) and put on those dancing slippers for a celebratory moon dance of your own. Let the massive lunar energy move your feet and your life in the direction of your highest good.
The one previously scheduled commitment that I will honor and where you can find me in August…
