A beautiful story Shelley. It brought back memories of my trip there years ago. I loved it but went in the spring so it was cool and clear. I have always loved big rock formations and the soft edges of Adobe buildings. And chilies. And bright colors. So it offered me a lot. I so enjoy reading your accounts of places. Your words are beautiful and matched with Joe’s images perfection. I love you both.

These photos are amazing, especially the ones that look like sepiatone. I fall in the camp of those that love Santa Fe. My BFF lived there for many years (may she RIP) and every year when we drove down to Mexico, we'd stay w/ her for a few days and catch up. She showed us more than Artists Row, etc, and we went out into smaller towns nearby. At first the sand-colored glum, lifeless landscape was hard to take, but slowly I could see it had its own beauty, plus I liked the high high ceilings and the stucco cement work (called suave in Spanish) and those sprawling houses w/ the wooden timbers. There was a spiritual side to the place too.
