If you’ve been following a rainbow path searching for the pot of gold, maybe you’re looking in the wrong direction. True, we live in a society that encourages dropping what we hold in our hands for the “next best thing.” But it can be hard to find value in a culture that thinks the solution is somewhere else. New and improved frequently trumps tried and true.
That applies to what we’re reading. Some people scour best seller lists to find their next read. I personally like reading books I’ve read already. And if I find an author whose work I like, I’ll often go the backlist and read more from this person—sometimes everything the author has published.
