I live in Asheville, North Carolina, nestled in Appalachia’s magnificent Blue Ridge Mountains. Living here, I’m treated to a view of the clear, blue Carolina skies above the hazy, foglike puffs surrounding the Great Smokies.

Nature provides this visible evidence that clear skies exist beyond temporarily obscured views. Less discernible at first glance, however, is how to find your way from behind the smoky screen to clarity.
