I love your idea of a group healing session to support others' emotional regulation now. I offer a free weekly sound bath in the park, but it's not widely promoted outside our privileged circles. Time to expand. Zoom is horrible for the resonant sound energy work I love to offer (singing bowls, plus singing what's alive for us in the moment). Hmm. Time to get creative...
PS: as a former journalist who worked for big media, including TIME Magazine, I saw firsthand how news has a toxic slant, by design. I unhooked many years ago. Even the political discourse on Substack can still be difficult to integrate....
It's true...I'm finding my "filter" for what I allow to enter my field needs to be in place most of the time...unless I'm in a setting such as your sound bath circle. As for zoom and sound, there is a setting called "configuring audio for music and singing" that might help you. Put the copy in quotes here into the search bar on the Zoom home page and several help articles come up with explanation. I haven't tried it myself yet, but someone told me about it when I was ringing a bell to open a call and no one could hear it! Hope that helps :) Thanks for your feedback!
Thanks for this, Shelley, and I love the image you have at the top of the post. I respect your decision about TV and even social media to an extent. 💞For me, social media is part of my job as a communications director. And, even if it weren't, there are parts of social media I love - I've connected with far-off relatives and friends, learned important information, and connected with new people who make my soul happy. 😊 I am pretty good about limiting my TV watching and social scrolling -- and have even had to limit my Substack usage as I find it can also take over.
I agree with everything you wrote, Lisa. Social media isn't the "culprit." The downside is in the way it's used at times. Like you, I enjoy connecting with friends and relatives. I also appreciate the good info that's shared. My boundary is when it's used to spread content that is misleading and/or negative. So, that's my cautionary note: be discerning of your time, attention, and selection. Same for TV. It's not the TV, it's the programming. So once again, discernment with screen time and content can make a huge difference in quality of life. Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated!
